EQUINOX I - Official Opening
Thursday, October 17th 2024 3:00pm - 8:00pm
On the occasion of Art Basel Paris, Hans Weigand and Stefanie Hering present the exhibition ‘Equinox I’ at the gallery CØR Studio in the Marais from 17 to 20 October 2024. In addition to prints and two triptychs from the Austrian artist's latest cycle of works, an unpublished collaboration with Stefanie Hering will be presented: a limited-edition collector's box with six plates adorned with motifs by Weigand, a colossal woodcut, and elaborately designed tables with the same motif, supported by Tischlerei Prödl and Hering Berlin.
This is the first time that the versatile artist has applied motifs to bisque porcelain. As an experienced craftsman, Weigand transfers the images of the woodcuts onto the sophisticated plates from Hering Berlin. The recurring icons of his oeuvre can be found there, such as the wave as a force of nature, the surfer, the isolated mother's house and fragments of a world in decay. The exhibition presents a personal yet classic mythology on delicate materials.
„Another unique collaboration is the table designed by Stefanie Hering and crafted by Tischlerei Prödl, featuring a large woodcut by Hans Weigand on its surface. The motif is a surfboard. The corresponding woodcut is also available as a standalone artwork.“
The exhibition is being organized with the kind support of Tischlerei Prödl, Kirchberg an der Raab, and Hering Berlin.

Hans Weigand,
born in 1954 in Hall/Tyrol, is an Austrian contemporary artist. As a painter, he picks up on old, traditional media and translates them into the present. He was influenced by the Western American art scene and the musical subculture. His works explore identities and projection surfaces of society and react to everyday phenomena, which he reduces to absurdity in seemingly utopian scenarios. Motifs from religion, war, catastrophes, violence, comics, film, surfing, natural backdrops and urban landscapes form a diverse panopticon of the present. His works have been shown internationally in solo and group exhibitions, and in 2022 the Albertina in Vienna presented the comprehensive solo exhibition ‘Rider in the Storm’. Weigand lives and works in Vienna.
Stefanie Hering,
born 1967 in Stuttgart, is a German ceramic artist and designer. Her passion for design and craftsmanship has positioned her creations at the forefront of contemporary design. In her artistic work, she explores the formal possibilities of different materials and techniques, often in dialogue with other cultures and artists.
Her works have been honoured with the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Golden Prize of the International Ceramics Biennale South Korea, among others, and are part of international museum collections. In 2016, Haus am Waldsee, Berlin, presented an extensive solo exhibition of her work. Hering lives and works in Berlin.
